The agro-industrial park is conceived as a multipurpose and multiproduct epicentre of agro-processing, agro-industrial and agribusiness activities in the state. In line with the universal concept of “industrial park”, the agro-industrial park will serve as “infrastructure, logistics and services haven” to promote the ease of doing agro-industry and agribusiness in the state.
The outcomes include; Improved Competitiveness of Agro-Industrial and Agro-Processing Businesses, Increased Flow of Private Investments to the State’s Agricultural Sector, Job and Wealth Creation, Sustainable Growth and Diversification of the State’s Economy
The purpose of the Agro-Industrial Park is to eliminate persisting agricultural value chain infrastructure constraints, diminish the cost of operations and enhance the overall ease of doing agribusiness.
The structuring of the investment as a public-private partnership (PPP) through Joint Venture Agreement, the market-based and demand-driven nature of the Delta State agro-industrial park model make the project sustainable into the future.
The Agro-Industrial Parks Initiative of the present administration is a deliberate effort to focus on agriculture, agribusiness and agro-industrialization of the state. This involves the establishment of a centralized geographical area for agro-processing, agribusiness, marketing and value adding activities supported by a dedicated concentration of infrastructural facilities and amenities. In other words, it is a unique high impact one-stop agribusiness environment. This is aimed at developing a sustainable roadmap to bring Delta State out of the woods, out of overdependence on the oil and gas sector, ensure food security and promote job and wealth creation in the state.
